The Path to Being a Missionary

Consider missionary readiness through honest questions about character, conviction, and ability.

Should I become a missionary? Many who ask this question have a genuine love for Christ and a desire to live out the Great Commission. Yet good intentions and personal ambition can make it difficult to judge the demands of the work clearly.

Ryan Robertson and Matt Bennett argue that pursuing missions should be shaped by discernment, prayer, godly counsel, and life in the local church rather than impulse or idealism.

Their concise chapters offer practical advice and questions for readers considering missionary service. The authors encourage an honest evaluation of character, convictions, and competencies, asking not only whether a person feels called but whether that person is qualified.

The guide also serves churches involved in sending missionaries, with insights from experienced missions leaders and concrete prompts for reflection, prayer, and next steps.
