Join us in this week's episode of the Praying Christian Women podcast to examine Proverbs 31:26 and discuss some of the dos and don'ts of giving and receiving godly wisdom, how letting go of people pleasing can open doors to greater wisdom, how to decide which people to listen to, and so much more!

Questions to ask yourself before seeking wisdom from someone:

Am I just looking for a yes (wo)man? Am I asking this person for advice  because I already know they'll agree with me? If so, you might be seeking validation, not true wisdom.

What worldview will this advice be coming from? Will this person give advice from a Biblical perspective or from a worldly perspective? Not all good advice has to come from a person of faith, but you definitely need to know going into a conversation where they're coming from so you can be vigilant as you rightly test that advice against scripture.

Can I trust this person to give it to me straight? Will this person speak the truth in love, or will they be too afraid of hurting my feelings to say what they really think?

Is this person safe? Do I feel safe with this person, or do I always come away from conversations feeling small or belittled? Distance yourself from unsafe people when you're looking for wise advice.

Our prayer for you today ...

Dear God,

We praise you for having a wisdom far greater, far deeper and far reaching than anything the world can give. We submit to you, asking for your guidance and direction in every area of our lives.

We pray for your Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where we are relying on worldly wisdom and need to look deeper into your will for us and into scripture. Correct wrong thinking where we've let ourselves drift away from truth because of worldly influences.

Help us to have discernment about whom to let influence us, whose advice and counsel to listen to and whose to keep out. We pray for protection against lies from the enemy, and for confidence that as we walk forward in giving and receiving wisdom you will be there instructing and correcting our paths every step of the way.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
